Registration and tourist tax in Montenegro

Registration and tourist tax in Montenegro

If you are staying in a hotel, apartment, etc., then the person in charge of the hotel or the landlord must register you and pay the tourist tax for you.

Otherwise, you must register yourself and pay the tourist tax within 24 hours after arrival. Make it simple:

1. Request information about the landlord.

You will need: first name, last name, date of birth of the owner and address of the apartment.

2. Contact the nearest branch of the tourism organization.

Look for a sign that says Tourism Info (usually located near the Posta Post Office). And do not forget to bring along your passport or other document with which you crossed the border.

3. Pay the tourist fee.

In many Tourism Info, you can pay directly on the spot. You can also contact the post office and pay the fee for the number of days that you plan to stay in the country. The amount of the tourist fee is determined by the municipality, but does not exceed 1 euro per day of stay.

4. Submit all documents and receipt of payment of the fee of the tourist organization.

An employee of the organization will do the rest for you. And don’t worry, usually employees of such organizations speak English or Russian.

And we remind you that non-compliance with registration obligations prescribed by law is punishable. The fine is from 60 to 600 euros. Therefore, we advise you to take care of resolving all issues within a day after arrival, in order to enjoy your vacation in Montenegro later.
