Chan is a small resort village located in the Barsky municipality of Montenegro (the distance to Bar is about 15 kilometers).
Chan is located away from the main highway, on a fenced site of the sea coast between the two hills - Ostrovitsa and Veligrad, so the rest here is notable for its extraordinary calm and safety.
When in 1741 the Kotor authorities restricted trade with the neighboring Montenegrin lands and blocked their access to the port, many trade flows began to go through the port in the village of Chan. Here, transshipment warehouses for marine products were built, and the Russian fleet at one time guarded the sea corridor.
There are two beaches in the vicinity. One small and sandy, access to which is possible only by sea - this is the so-called “Queen's Beach”, it is separated by rocks from the village itself. The Montenegrin Queen Milena loved to relax on it before. Directly in the village of Chan, one of the most beautiful beaches of Montenegro is located - Pearl Beach (sometimes called Biserny). It got its name for its unusual shape, pebble covering it, small stones with their appearance and white color resemble placers of pearls. The beach is quite well equipped, there are even specially fenced areas for bathing children, so in this place it is convenient to relax with the whole family.
Another advantage of the Chan beach is the thickets of eucalyptus, cypress and pine trees surrounding it. They carry a pleasant coolness on a hot summer day, and also fill the surrounding air with useful essential oils, compounds of bromine and iodine. This makes staying at the Pearl Beach not only enjoyable, but also beneficial to health.
