The EU allocates an additional 15 million euros for the construction of the Budapest-Ploce highway

On Thursday, the European Union provided additional grants of € 15 million to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The money will go towards building a motorway on the site that connects Budapest and Ploce.

An agreement on the sale of these funds was signed in Sarajevo by the Minister of Finance of BiH Vekoslav Bevanda and the head of the representative office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Jan Brown.

15 million euros will be spent on the construction of a kilometer of a highway in the vicinity of Doboya, which includes two transport interchanges.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has been building a motorway for over 20 years. To date, 130 kilometers of modern roads have been built. According to the latest estimates of the EU delegation, all 330 kilometers of the highway passing through BiH should be completed by the end of 2030.

Thus, the total cost of this infrastructure project is about 4 billion euros. They are mainly secured by various loan agreements. While 1 billion euros consists of grants from European funds, supplemented by commercial loans.
