Superyacht Christina O moored in Tivat

The legendary ship Christina O, owned by the Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, docked at Porto Montenegro (Tivat) two days ago.

Its length is 99 m, the maximum speed is 19 knots. The ship began life 75 years ago at the shipyard of the Canadian company Vickers in Montreal, where it was built in the form of a frigate for the Canadian fleet.

This warship participated in the famous battle for the Atlantic against German submarines, as well as in military operations in the Arctic Ocean. After World War II, it was taken out of operational use by the Canadian Navy and bought by renowned Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis for just $ 34. Casar Pinau, a renowned yacht designer, turned the ship into the most luxurious private yacht of his time. For 4 million euros, the former warship was turned into the world's first superyacht.

Due to the size and strength of the hull and the mechanical foundations of the warship, Christina O has an unrivaled level of amenities. As the first superyacht in the world, it has opened new directions in the design, design and construction of the most luxurious private yachts.

The wedding ceremony of Prince Monaco Rainier III and American actress Grace Kelly was held on this yacht. Also, John F. Kennedy, Winston Churchill, Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and other Hollywood stars had the opportunity to enjoy the incredible luxury of Christina O.

In 1975, when Aristotle Onassis died, the yacht passed to his daughter, in whose honor she got her name. In 1978, Christina Onassis transferred the ship to the Greek government as a presidential yacht. However, over time, the ship began to slowly collapse.

The historical rarity was saved by a friend of the Onassis family - John Paul Papanicolaou, a Greek shipowner who sailed on it as a child.

In the period from January 1999 to April 2001, the yacht was overhauled at a cost of more than $ 50 million.

Christina O has retained the charm of a classic ship. The ship has 19 luxurious cabins, which have been restored in the style of Onassis. The ship is designed for 36 guests.

It offers passengers a gym, a library, a children's room, a massage parlor, two elevators, and in the open area there is a solarium, a swimming pool that can transform into a dance floor, and a huge jacuzzi. The crew with attendants totals 35 people.

Today Christina O is available for rent. A week on a yacht will cost from 560 to 700 thousand euros (depending on the time of year).
