The Chinese company CRBC will not pay a fine for non-compliance with the construction timeline of the Smokovats-Mateshevo highway section if the engineer determines that the contractor's demands are justified due to force majeure - the coronavirus pandemic.
The deadline for completion of all works on the highway expired on September 30, but a new annex to the contract has not yet been signed. The supervisory authority of the French-Italian consortium Ingerop Geodata is to decide on CRBC's requests for an extension.
Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Osman Nurkovich and Monteput General Manager Jonuz Muevich visited this section of the road to check the level of implementation and quality of work. They said that the work was done by 90%.
