Montenegro can receive from the EU about 500 million euros for development

Montenegro can get about 500 million euros from the money allocated by the EU for an investment plan for the Western Balkans.

Montenegro can expect to receive about five percent of funds, grants and concessional loans in the amount of nine billion euros from the investment program of the European Commission (EC) for the Western Balkans, which is about 450-500 million, but it all depends on the quality of the proposed projects.

At the same time, the European Union will require that the projects are necessary, cost-effective, sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Over the past ten years since the inception of the EU investment system, Montenegro has received about 410 million of the approximately 7,5 billion allocated grants and soft loans to countries in the region.

The cost of projects for which Montenegro has so far applied independently or jointly with one or several neighboring countries, is about 1,7 billion euros.
