The negative impact of the pandemic on the business of construction companies, he pointed out, was reflected in a labor shortage, difficult import and supply of construction materials and equipment.

“The implementation of the fourth phase of the Project to meet the housing needs of citizens on favorable terms in a thousand plus is also important for the industry,” Rakcevic said.

He also stressed that the process of work on construction sites needs to be adjusted taking into account the recommendations of the health care system in order to maintain health and prevent the spread of coronavirus.

18% fewer employees

Despite ambitious plans for the construction market, the coronavirus has cut industry employment by 18%.

“For ten months of this year, the construction sector employed an average of 11 workers, which is 473 percent less than in the same period last year,” Rakcevic said.

In addition, he said that the planned construction work continues, but at a slower pace due to the current situation with the epidemic.
