The government of Montenegro will begin the process of creating a new airline, said the Minister of Capital Investments Mladen Bojanic. The minister even announced the name of the new airline - To Montenegro.
As a reminder, the previous national airline Montenegro Airlines stopped flying from December 26. This means that within 90 days the airline will lose the licenses of all pilots, engineers and mechanics.
The management of Montenegro Airlines, the decision to liquidate which was recently taken by the new authorities of Montenegro, wrote to the government of the country a request to start creating a new airline immediately.
The text of the appeal states that the new airline has a chance only if the current resources of Montengro Airines are transferred to it.
“The status has not been determined, we want to keep Montenegro Airlines only until the new company is established. Our position is clear that we need a new company. Montenegro is a tourist country and we must have a national airline. How soon will we start with the creation of a new airline? Everything will take six to nine months, I think we will do it earlier. We have sent an official letter to the European Commission to help us in this process. We also plan to take on a certain part of the staff in the new company. We hope to do this during this period with the help of the European Commission and some major European airlines, ”Bojanic said in a broadcast on the local TV Vijesti channel.
