Montenegro breaks the record in Europe for the number of people vaccinated against coronavirus per day

The Ministry of Health of Montenegro reported that on May 4, almost 10 thousand citizens received the coronavirus vaccine. 7 of them received the first dose of the vaccine and 784 the second dose. Before mass vaccination began, about 1482% of the population was vaccinated with the first dose, and 6% with the second.

Thus, Montenegro has set a record in Europe for the number of doses administered in one day, in proportion to the number of inhabitants. Prior to this, Germany was the record holder, which vaccinated 1 million inhabitants in one day, that is, 1,2 percent of the total population.

Recall that on May 1, 200 thousand doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine arrived in the country, and on May 4, mass vaccination began. Previously, citizens were vaccinated AstraZeneka vaccine.

In addition, the first batch of Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine arrived in Montenegro on 4 May, together with EU Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varheja. Vaccination of priority groups with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will begin on April 6, according to the Ministry of Health of Montenegro.

The Ministry of Health recalled that the first contingent of 2340 doses out of a total of 42 arrived in Montenegro. The Ministry of Health stressed that the first batch is intended for priority groups, which include medical workers and people with conditions that are considered clinically extremely vulnerable.

When all vulnerable and priority groups of the group receive the vaccine, the remaining drugs will also be sent for the needs of the mass vaccination.
