The President of the European Parliament David Sassoli spoke in favor of the accession of the Western Balkan states to the European Union.
According to Sassoli, EU enlargement will benefit both the region and Europe as a whole, as it will ensure "stability, prosperity and peace on the continent." He also stressed that the European Union must "keep the promise" given to the Balkan countries.
At the same time, he noted that the rate of expansion depends on each individual country in the Western Balkans.
"Reforms must be fully carried out in each state," the TV channel quotes. RTS Sassoli's words from an interview with the German Funke Mediengruppa.
Recall that earlier the EU administration in Brussels changed the rules for the entry of new countries into the community. The innovations primarily affected the Balkan countries, which are the first in the queue for accession to the EUsuch as Serbia and Montenegro.
