The former port in Virpazar will be restored

Renovated port to decorate Virpazar by 2022

Montenegro plans to renovate the former port in Virpazar. This is stated in the government's strategy for the development of the maritime economy for 2020-2030. The restoration of the port will make it possible to establish a lake connection between Montenegro and Albania. The renovated port will be beneficial for both countries.

The restoration work of the port in Virpazar will be undertaken by the ALMONIT MTC project. The investment amount is 2,44 million euros, of which 85% will be co-financed under the IPA II project, and 15% will be allocated from the state budget.

The Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs has already received the approved city and technical conditions for the first phase of the restoration of Virpazar port. The construction of the port is scheduled for June 2022.
