Reconstruction of the summer residence of the last Montenegrin king, Nikola I Petrovic, has begun in Niksic. The restoration of the building built in 1900 will cost 1,2 million euros.
The work will be completed by August 2021 and include the reconstruction of the attic, walls, ceiling, floors, and restoration of stone driveways. Particular attention will be paid to the heating and cooling system to ensure the safety of the museum exhibits.
The summer residence in Niksic was built in honor of the fortieth anniversary of the reign of Prince Nikola and was designed by the Croatian architect Josip Slade. He has numerous works, including the urban plan of the new city of Niksic and the royal bridge on the Zeta River.
