Montenegrin authorities plan to increase excise taxes on alcohol and cigarettes

The new draft budget of Montenegro for 2021 provides for an increase in excise taxes on alcohol, cigarettes, carbonated drinks and sweets.

Prices for a pack of cigarettes from July 1 may be higher by about 30 eurocents, a liter of carbonated drinks will rise in price by 12 eurocents, a kilogram of sweets by 72 eurocents and alcoholic drinks by 7-15 cents, depending on the type and percentage of alcohol. From July 1, employees with high salaries will pay higher taxes. To apply these measures, it is necessary to adopt amendments to the laws on excise taxes, personal income and mandatory contributions.
