Free PCR test for tourists and 5 more reasons to visit Montenegro

The Ministry of Health of Montenegro said that from 13 May PCR tests will be carried out free of charge for all campers and tourists who need this test to return to their home countries.

In addition, the Minister of Health of Montenegro Elena Borovinich Bojovic added that at the expense of the state it will be provided hospital treatment for all touristswho, during their stay in Montenegro, become infected with coronavirus or get sick with COVID-19.

Another pleasant bonus for tourists and residents of Montenegro was the decision to abolition of curfewwhich previously operated from midnight to 5 am. Thus, a step was taken towards the complete abolition of epidemiological measures.

Thanks to a new solution all restrictions are removed for movement between municipalities. Until now, it has been banned on weekends. Live music is now also allowed on café terraces from 19:00 pm to 22:00 pm, while other obligations to wear protective masks outdoors and indoors and measures to ban gatherings remain.

In the first three months of 2021, Montenegro was at the top of the ranking of countries in the world in terms of the number of active cases of coronavirus infection. However, due to the introduction of strict epidemiological measures in mid-March, which included the closure of educational institutions, restaurants, gyms, fitness centers and shopping centers, the number of active infections fell from a maximum of 10 thousand patients to one and a half thousand. The number of infected people for the second week in a row is less than a hundred people a day.

Entry rules to Montenegro

Montenegrin citizens and tourists from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine allowed to enter Montenegro without PCR test for coronavirus, as well as a positive IgG antibody test or vaccination certificate. 

These rules also apply to travelers from Serbia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania.

Important: some airlines require a PCR test to board an aircraft. Check with your tour operator or airline.

Other citizens entering Montenegro are allowed to enter if they have a PCR test not older than 48 hours, or with a positive IgG antibody test not older than 30 days, or with proof vaccinated with a second dose at least seven days before entering Montenegro.

We also remind that citizens of the Russian Federation can enter, cross the territory and stay in Montenegro without a visa from April 1 to October 31 of this year for up to 90 days in a period of 180 days, counting from the date of the first entry with a valid travel document.

For citizens of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, visa-free stay is limited to 30 days in the same period.

For citizens of Ukraine, this rule (90 days in a period of 180 days) is valid all year round.

How to get to Montenegro

Most often, tourists arrive from Belarus, Ukraine or with a transfer in Belgrade (Serbia).

Flies from Belarus charter Minsk - Tivat. From May 9 - every Sunday, starting from the end of May, additional flights are expected. No PCR test required for planting.

Flies from Ukraine skyup to Tivat from Kiev on Wednesdays, from Odessa - on Tuesdays and Saturdays, from Lvov and Zaporozhye - on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from Kharkov - on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

There are currently no direct flights from Russia. An agreement on the mutual resumption of air traffic between Russia and Montenegro has not yet been reached, the aircraft can be sent only in the status of cargo and passenger, and tour operators are not able to include this transportation in tour packages.
