Montenegrin Telekom commissioned 5G network

Montenegrin Telekom put into operation a 5G network

Montenegrin company Telekom put into test operation 5G network in Bijelo Polje and Berane, which created real preconditions for commercial commissioning of 5G services throughout Montenegro.

Thus, Telekom, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom Group, became the first telecom operator in Montenegro to successfully test a 5G network at several points in Montenegro in real conditions, that is, in the middle frequency range that is currently available to users.

5G in Montenegro

“Through the development of electronic communications, we support the social and economic progress of Montenegro. We can say with complete confidence that we have justified the title of the leader in the telecommunications market. We deliberately chose the north, wishing to stimulate the development of this region, and not set an economic ROI to the fore, ”said Predrag Stanisic, head of Telekom's access network in Montenegro.

He stated that the project was implemented primarily at the expense of his own funds.

Stanisic thanked the entire Telekom team and recalled the great support provided by colleagues from the Deutsche Telekom Group and a longtime partner of Ericsson.

Dina Tsibulskaya, executive director of Montenegrin Telekom, said the company is the operator with the largest share in Montenegro in the exchange of data over the mobile Internet, and that its mobile network is the fastest, according to many studies.

Montenegro is still awaiting the creation of regulatory and technical conditions for the implementation of a 5G network at the state level, when the 3,5 gigahertz (GHz) frequency will be made available to operators through a spectrum auction.
