The first megaliner after the pandemic will enter the port of Kotor on July 17

The 228-meter megaliner Viking Venus from Viking Ocean Cruises will arrive in the Montenegrin city of Kotor on July 17 at 8:00 and will sail at 18:00.

Last year was difficult for Montenegrin port... The port workers, who also understood the gravity of the situation, did their part by forgoing forty percent of their salaries in order for the port to survive this turbulent period.

For the financial year to end without losses, the port of Kotor needs at least 60 cruise ships.

“The port authorities and all the competent authorities did their best. The port is completely ready to receive cruisers, protocols have been adopted in accordance with the law. We sent out notes to all the countries in which we were on the red list asking them to be removed from this list in order to allow cruisers to enter our country as well. However, this letter was sent and the states have their own protocols. We are awaiting a meeting of their medical institutions and the official exclusion of Montenegro from this red list, ”- said the chairman of the board of directors Liliana Popovich Moshkov.

Building on the experience of last year, the port announced that it will devote itself to the development of the offshore section so that all revenues do not depend on the cruise industry alone.

“What the port is currently generating income from is the arrival of yachts. We believe that we should not allow the entire development of the company to rely on only one card, but should look at other aspects, such as the maritime part and the reception of luxury yachts, ”added Popovich Moshkov.
