Montenegrin authorities announced which days will be non-working on holidays

On the occasion of the upcoming New Year and religious holiday Christmas for believers of the Roman Catholic and Orthodox denominations, non-working days will be December 24, 25 and 26, then January 1 and 3, as well as January 6, January 7 and 8, reported Ministry of Economic Development of Montenegro.

Under the Religious Holidays Act, Catholics are entitled to paid holidays on Christmas and Christmas Eve: Friday, December 24, Saturday, December 25, and Sunday, December 26.

New Years are celebrated on Saturday, January 1st and Sunday, January 2nd. Since the second non-working day is Sunday, the first non-working day will be the next day, which means that the second non-working day will be Monday, January 3.

Orthodox Christians are entitled to paid holidays for Christmas and Christmas Eve: Thursday, January 6 (Christmas Eve), Friday, January 7 (first day of Christmas) and Saturday, January 8 (second day of Christmas).

“State bodies, local governments, public institutions, public companies and other entities carrying out activities of public interest are obliged to ensure that activities are carried out on holidays, the interruption of which could have detrimental consequences for citizens or the state,” the ministry said.
