The government of Montenegro has not yet adopted sanctions against Russia

On March 17, a meeting of the government of Montenegro was supposed to adopt sanctions against Russia because of Ukraine, however it was interrupted.

The Government of Montenegro reported that the meeting was adjourned due to disagreements in the procedure for making a decision on the application of sanctions, determined by paragraphs 11,12,13 of the adopted agenda.

Prime Minister of Montenegro Zdravko Krivokapić demanded that this decision be taken not by the government, but by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was opposed by Foreign Minister Djordje Radulovic, explaining that it was the constitutional competence of the government, and that the Prime Minister wanted to relieve responsibility for sanctions. At this Krivokapich announced a break in the meeting.

Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Vesna Bratić said she would vote against sanctions against Russia.

Recall that Montenegro declaratively joined all restrictive measures, including eight packages of individual and economic sanctions adopted by the EU against Russia, and the decision was published on the government website on March 1 as the position of the Foreign Ministry.
