Inflation in 2022 is the highest since the restoration of Montenegrin independence

Inflation in 2022 will be the highest since the restoration of Montenegrin independence, they said at a meeting of the Council of the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG). This is stated in the Report on price dynamics for the 3rd quarter of 2022, which was adopted by the Council.

“It was pointed out that inflation is mainly imported, that is, it is caused by international market factors, and a smaller part is the result of internal imbalances. The model forecast for the end of 2022 assumes that inflation will range from 16,2% to 18,9%, with a central forecast of 17,8%. CBCG's expert assessment predicts inflation in the range of 16% to 20%.

In order to meet CBCG's commitment to quarterly determine the countercyclical buffer rate, the Board adopted a Decision on the rate of the countercyclical capital buffer for Q1 2023.
