Coronavirus vaccination delays could negatively impact tourism

According to Pobjeda daily, the situation with the epidemiological situation in Montenegro and timely immunization are likely to have a negative impact on tourism and the summer season of 2021.

The tourism industry around the world is gradually waking up, but tourists are canceling trips to Montenegro due to the large number of infections and delays in vaccinations.

Destinations around the world are already being prepared, and potential tourists should be informed in a timely manner about how they can spend their holidays in our country. One example of good practice is Cyprus, where the conditions for arrival in the coming summer tourist season have already been determined.

Ranko Jovovich, President of the Council of Tourism and Hospitality Associations at the Chamber of Commerce, said delays in the delivery of the coronavirus vaccine leave tourists feeling insecure and affect their perception of Montenegro as a safe and responsible tourist destination.

Director of EastWest Voyage Montenegro Zorka Raicevic believes that, unfortunately, everything in Montenegro is too politicized and everything except politics is ignored.

“People all over the world are being vaccinated, while Montenegro still does not know anything about Covid vaccines. We do not know if we will get them when it happens, what we will get, let alone a vaccination rollout strategy ... "

Hilton's CEO Nemanja Nikolic also believes that the vaccination program should start as soon as possible, as we can still regain the image of a safe place, given that we are a small country.

“Delayed vaccination is already affecting tourism trends in Montenegro. Accelerating vaccinations is the best support the government can provide to the economy and tourism, ”she said.

According to Ivana Zhurovich, General Manager of the Ramada Hotel, if we do not start vaccinations soon, the summer season will be severely affected as we will not be a safe place for tourists from Europe.
