Montenegrin government buys two planes for new airline

The Montenegrin government has decided to purchase two Embraer 195 aircraft for the needs of the new ToMontenegro airline, which will cost the state $ 21,78 million.

Thus, according to the Ministry of Finance of Montenegro, this will save 43 million US dollars.

Given that the government is the founder and owner of Montenegro Airlines, the entire burden of early termination of the contract must be paid from the state budget.

“Colossal progress has been achieved today. Instead of the government paying more than $ 43 million due to the termination of the current lease agreement for two aircraft between Montenegro Airlines and GECAS, in the process losing all rights to scrapping these aircraft, today we bought them for just over $ 21 million. This means that today they are permanently owned by the state. With the purchase of these two aircraft, we are one step closer to achieving our goal that ToMontenegro is operational and flights are resumed by June 1 this year, ”said Minister of Finance and Social Affairs Milojko Spajic.
