Montenegro tightened quarantine measures for 7 days

The new quarantine measures include strict controls at border crossings, with the exception of those entering from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and Kosovo. The work of bookmakers, casinos, fitness centers and gyms in Budva, Tivat, Herceg Novi, Podgorica, Cetinje, Niksic, Kotor, Bar, Ulcinj, Pluzin and Pljevlja is prohibited. Also in these cities from March 11, lessons will be conducted online, and kindergartens will be closed from March 12.

List of all changes:

  1. From March 13, entry to Montenegro is allowed if there is a PCR test not older than 48 hours, or with a positive IgG antibody test not older than 30 days, or with proof of vaccination (two doses of vaccine) at least seven days before entering Montenegro. These rules do not apply to travelers from Serbia, Kosovo, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania.
  2. It is forbidden to leave the municipalities of Kotor, Pljevlja, Ulcinj and Bar.
  3. Restaurants in Bar and Pljevlja are closed.
  4. Schools have been transferred to the online format, kindergartens are closed.
  5. The work of all retail outlets is prohibited, except for grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations.
  6. All parks, playgrounds and walking areas are closed.

According to Igor Galich, director of the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro, the new measures will be in effect for 7 days (until March 18).

Over the past day, 8 patients have died in Montenegro: 3 from Niksic, 2 from Bar and one each from Podgorica, Kotor and Herceg Novi. The youngest of them was 53 years old, and the oldest was 94 years old. A total of 654 new cases of COVID-19 infection were recorded, with 585 patients recovered. The total number of currently active cases is 9, which is 124 per 1 inhabitants.

Health Minister Elena Borovinich Bojovich emphasizes that the capacity of hospitals throughout the country has increased and that currently their occupancy rate is 67%.

At the moment, more than 3 people have already been vaccinated in the country. Recall that Montenegro has already arrived 30 doses of Chinese Sinopharm vaccine и 7 doses of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V.
