Montenegrin banks earned 148 million euros from interest rates

An analysis of the operations of the banking sector of Montenegro showed that at the end of 2021, the main five banks of the country accounted for almost 75% of all sector assets. The total amount of net loans from 11 banks at the end of last year was a record 2,88 billion euros and almost 74 million euros higher than at the end of 2020. The overall level of loans in the banking system has increased by more than 1 billion euros over 10 years.

The banks generated a net annual profit of 148 million euros from interest and nearly 38 million euros from fees. The profit of the banking sector at the end of 2021 amounted to more than 36 million euros, and the annual level is 63% higher compared to 2020, according to the portal bankar.me.
