Income from the IT industry in Montenegro amounted to 147 million euros

Minister of Economic Development and Tourism Goran Žurović, answering questions from MPs, said that with the creation of the Innovation Fund, the innovation and start-up community has received a specialized institution that will implement innovative programs and raise funds from other sources to support and develop innovative activities.

He added that digitalization in Montenegro is not at a satisfactory level.

“In addition to tourism and energy, development IT industries is the direction of development of our economy”.

URA MP Milos Konatar asked what measures the state would use to support information technology (IT) companies as well as start-up companies.

He said that last year the value of the total revenues from the IT industry in Montenegro amounted to 147 million euros.

"The two largest IT companies alone have generated almost 60 million euros together."

He compared these figures with Luke Bar, which generated €12 million in revenue last year, and Plantaže, which generated €23 million in revenue.

The minister also said that the government will invest much more money in the northern region.

“We will have a fantastic Wild Beauty Art event in Zabljak from July 10 to August 15 where we will promote the beauty of Montenegro. Zabljak will become the cultural capital of Montenegro in the near future,” Zhurovich said.

In addition, the minister said that strategic norms are now being created for the implementation of the 5G network in Montenegro, and that the ministry will announce an auction for the second half of the year for radio frequencies for the 5G network.

“I think that we will be the first country in the region to implement a 5G network with high quality,” he said, reports Investor.me.
