Head of the Dubrovnik Port and Chairman of the Board Željko Raguž said about the need to build a terminal for cruise ships in the port of Dubrovnik. In this sense, he mentioned Porto montenegro in Tivat, whom, according to him, Dubrovnik is chasing.

“The port would look different on the map of the ports of the world, it would stand out. Although, we can boast that even without a terminal, today we are the tenth port in the world and the third Mediterranean port in terms of the number of passengers with a one-day visit to a cruise destination. Many people think that guests all get off the ship wherever they moor. However, this is not the case, but we can boast that 75 percent of the guests got off the ship in our city, which makes us one of the best destinations,” said Raguz.

In addition to prestige, according to him, the terminal will also bring income, they can increase the fee for each passenger.

“Today it is 1,5 euros per passenger, and we could bet five euros in this way. This is a considerable amount, this year more than 500 passengers will pass through our port, which will dramatically increase our income. But the terminal will be not only for guests from the cruise ship, but also for local residents, because the plans include shops and restaurants - a space where everyone will feel comfortable. And we simply have to be in trend, keep up with other best ports in the Mediterranean. Compared to Montenegro, we have a beautiful airport, but our port part is not so developed. They have Porto Montenegro, which looks at the world level, we are a little behind it, ”he said.

According to him, along with the Peljesac Bridge and Dubrovnik Airport, the terminal is one of the three projects of exceptional importance for the city.

“As a port, we have done everything. We have received instructions from the ministry, so it is necessary to change the Urban Development Plan for the Grush water area, this is in the process. As of the end of the year, he will be in the City Council, we hope for positive news,” Zeljko Raguz said.
